FASHION || TOP BASICS EVERY MIDSIZE WOMAN NEEDS IN HER WARDROBE

*These images were taken from the retailers' sites to create a collage for this post.

It took me a while to find the right items of clothing I wanted to keep in my wardrobe all year around. Now that I have found what works well for me (a midsize woman) I thought I'd share my picks with you so you can consider trying these out for yourself.

Unfortunately, the famous Zara bodysuits are often out of stock so if you see it in your size make sure you grab it! I have wanted to get my hands on them for absolute ages and when due to going into lockdown and my holiday being cancelled I thought I'd treat myself to all the colours. I have the white, black and beige shades and I feel like I want the blue and leopard print ones too as they are amazing quality for such a low price tag. I'm a size UK 10-12 (depending on the item) and I picked up size S which fits me very well.

H&M is one of my favourite clothing shops of all time. I don't like shopping there in person as much as I do online as I find that the information about the outfits is better online - for example, the sizing as it often comes up quite small.

I tend to size up in H&M outfits, especially the ones that are supposed to be tight, but this super cute boiler suit looks like it’ll be true to size for a slimmer fit. I love the neutral beige colour of this jumpsuit, it looks like it'll make a great daytime shopping outfit, or chilling in your back garden during a socially distances BBQ. I think that this is a timeless piece of clothing that everyone should own in their wardrobe as it can be dressed up or down, and be styled in the Summer as well is in Winter.

The balloon tiered patterned dress is my new favourite from H&M. I often receive their newsletters when they have new items in stock and I can never help myself but go on the website and browse the New-In page! Tiered dresses might not be everyone's cup of tea but I have always been a fan of them. They are very loose fitting and floaty which might not always be flattering - but it means you can eat all the food in the world and have the extra room for dessert (at least in your outfit if not in your stomach, haha!).

Last but not least (from H&M) are the accessories. I love cute hair clips as they can really pull a whole look together and add a bit of something extra to a plain outfit. I don't own a lot of hair accessories but the ones I do own I get a lot of wear out of. Another staple is shoes, obviously. If you don't already know I have a massive obsession with shoes and handbags - but mainly shoes. When I see a pair that I love I just have to buy it because there have been too many pairs that I missed out on by being sold out because I 'wanted to wait for the sales'. Now, when a pair that I really like is in the sales I feel like I have to scream about it from the rooftops! I have had these cute white heeled sandals for over a week now and I must say that they're decent quality and easy to walk in. They are comfortable and haven't given me any blisters (yet). So if there's one thing you are considering purchasing this month, make it the white strappy sandals for £8.

Nasty Gal is a company I came across a few years ago but never ordered anything until the beginning of this year. I must say that I was happily surprised by the quality of the clothes I had ordered as I was expecting them to be tight and thin material. Satin skirts are definitely my go-to when dressing up or down as they really compliment my figure. I don't have a classic hourglass shape to my body as my waist is quite wide, so I find that wearing something that will accentuate my waist is a must. I love pairing up my bodysuits with the silky skirts, but also wearing baggy printed t-shirts and jumpers tucked into the skirts.

To put it shortly; find items of clothing that fit you well and are comfortable. This is the key when picking out your timeless wardrobe pieces, so although they might be on the cheaper side and not the best quality in the world, they will serve you well and look great on you!

  1. Gorgeous picks! I love h&m too, but I've only recently gone back to shopping there, as I hate how small the sizes are. I definitely need to take the plunge and get one of those Zara bodysuits, everybody loves them xx

  4. I need to pick up some of those ZARA bodysuits but can never navigate the website! These are some great staples, and ones that will be around for years to come. Thank you for sharing - for some reason I never get a lot from H&M but this has inspired me to give it a try!
