REVIEW || ELF COSMETICS PORELESS PUTTY PRIMER

I feel like this product has been sold out in my local Superdrug stores for absolute ages until I was able to get my hands on it in December 2019. I've been using it for a few months now so I think it's the perfect time to finally review it. Since releasing the Poreless Putty Primer, ELF have also released a selection of primers in this range including Matte Putty Primer, and Luminous Putty Primer (which I haven't tried yet).

This product retails at only £8 which is a great price considering that you get 21 grams of product, as this can usually last around 4-6 months with daily use (a little goes a long way with this bad boy). I tend to apply this product using a stippling brush, but clean fingers work just as well.

The texture is very smooth and tacky, making it feel like it will adhere to the skin and foundation well. I have been using this product for a few months now (on and off with different foundations, and tools to test longevity), and I have found that this is a really good product for most skin types.

After applying the primer I wait roughly for 3 minutes for it to dry before applying foundation. The foundations I have tried with this primer that worked well are Estee Lauder Double Wear, Nars Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation, L'oréal True Match, and Maybelline Fit Me
Once I have set my foundation with powder (I use the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder) and with setting spray (I use Urban Decay's All Nighter) I began the test of longevity.

My skin looked flawless upon application which I can confidently say was also due to my skincare, but the primer did apply like a dream. My pores were instantly blurred, and my skin looked super smooth. This primer reminds me of Estee Lauder's The Smoother in finish, minus the high price tag - so if you are a fan of the EL primer and are looking for something more affordable then I'd urge you to try this ELF primer.

The longevity is quite decent, I did notice some separation around my mouth and chin after a few hours but that is something that happens to me often, especially when I talk a lot (which I do haha) and due to dehydration. If you get the same results as me with any foundation and primer you wear then I would recommend trying a hyaluronic acid serum, you can find them almost anywhere but my favourite one is this one.

Overall, I really enjoy using this primer. It is very long-lasting as I have now been using it since around April 2020 and there is still more than half left as a little goes a long way. This primer is also very durable and makes my foundation not only look flawless but also last longer than when not using a primer at all.

For only £8 per pot and with everyday usage this makes the ELF Poreless Putty Primer cost only approx. 66 pence per month assuming it will last you one year. I definitely want to try the other two putty primers by ELF which I will most definitely review in the future!
