REVIEW || GIORGIO ARMANI LUMINOUS SILK FOUNDATION

I'm sure that all of us would have heard about Giorgio Armani's Luminous Silk Foundation - the rave about it coming from beauty gurus such as Jeffree Star etc. I just had to buy it and try it out for myself. Is it worth the hype? Is it worth the high price tag of £37? Read on to find out...

I don't owe a lot of high-end foundations. I've always been going back and forth to my favourite Rimmel Match Perfection foundations or the trusty MAC Studio Fix, but when I heard so many positive reviews of the new Giorgio Armani foundation I went ahead and bought it as a birthday treat last month.

I really love the packaging. It screams 'sophisticated' and 'expensive'. It looks gorgeous on my desk, alongside the matching primer and my MAC lipsticks. As soon as I opened the box, I had high hopes for the product. I chose the shade '02' which I believe is the lightest shade available, well it was the lightest one when I was buying it anyway.

The colour match is perfect for me. It's not too pink yet not too yellow either, giving me a nice colour to my pale skin without being too dark - I do need to blend it down my neck slightly but I have to do this with all foundations so no biggie.

The coverage, ha, it states it is medium coverage however I think it's more of a light to medium coverage if anything. It applies on smoothly but I've noticed it moves around a lot when I try to blend it with my beauty sponge. I don't know if it's my skin and the redness or whether it's the actual product but I find that it does not conceal much. I feel the need to use a lot of concealer in places I need it, whereas when I use my Loreal True Match foundation I don't need to use a lot of concealer at all...

I think it lasts a full day without smudging or separating, it doesn't oxidise and it sits well on the face.  However this might be due to my setting spray, but my skin does tend to get quite oily throughout the day so maybe a luminous foundation is not the best one to wear haha. I will continue to use it every day and see how I feel, but I think it will suit me better in the summer as it has a beautiful glow to it, and at the moment I feel like I need a little bit of extra coverage to my skin.

If you're a fan of Giorgio Armani cosmetics then check out my review of the Light Master Primer.

Overall, I rate this product a 7/10.

REVIEW || ESTEÉ LAUDER DOUBLE WEAR MAXIMUM COVER FOUNDATION IN CREAMY VANILLA

Who's still struggling with finding the perfect foundation? Me Me Me!! But not any more. Now that I've found my long lost best friend I am forever happy. This miracle foundation is what everyone with any skin concerns needs. It does its job better than any other foundation I have ever tried - and trust me, there have been many.

I have heard so many good things about Estee Lauder's Double Wear foundations and have decided to try out both of them. I went to my local Estee Lauder counter at Boots and asked for a sample of the normal Double Wear and one of the Maximum Cover. I got given the shades 'Cool Bone' for Double Wear and  'Creamy Vanilla' for Maximum Cover. What I can tell you is that the colours did NOT match my skin tone at all. I am usually NW10 or NC15 in MAC foundations, depending on the type and consistency so I would expect to be similar colours in Estee Lauder but I guess it's just the personal opinion of the staff that work there, as well as the store's lighting.

After long consideration, I decided to purchase the Maximum Cover foundation in the shade 'Creamy Vanilla' as it is the lightest shade in the collection - not very impressed with the shade range, I'm hoping that the brand will consider expanding their shade range for lighter and darker skin tones in the future. And I am very impressed with the coverage it offers. It makes my skin look flawless, slightly orange (yikes) but flawless. Okay, I am exaggerating a little bit, it doesn't make me look orange but it is a lot darker than my natural skin tone so I have to blend it very well which can be time-consuming, or I would apply some fake tan to match this shade. However, you do not need a lot of product for full coverage which I like about this foundation as it is expensive and will probably last me for a year. A little goes a long way!

You can see here how dark it actually is and I only put the smallest amount on the back of my hand! I would say a pea-sized amount would be enough to conceal acne and scarring on my face (not saying that you need to do this). The consistency is very different from all the foundations I have ever tried. It is very velvety and smooth and almost like a cloud?? I cannot explain the texture of this foundation but it doesn't feel like you have any on your face after application so it's very good for people who wear heavy make-up and dislike the feel of it. I forget I'm wearing a full face of make-up when I use this foundation!

Overall, I am very pleased with this product as it truly is a lightweight and very full coverage. A little goes a long way, meaning that one tube should last around 6-12 months even with daily use. Sadly, the shade range isn't great but hopefully, you'll be able to find the closest match to your skin tone. Sometimes I mix it with my NW10 studio fix foundation as it's too light for me at the moment. A girl can never win... but it's a definite 9/10!! YAY! - Estee Lauder has since updated their colour range and has added a few new undertones too.

If you are looking for a foundation that's similar to this one without breaking the bank, then have a look at the comparison between these two foundations.

Have you tried any of the Estee Lauder foundations? What did you think?

Mini MAC Haul

Hey Lovelies!
It's been a while since I last posted as I am stuck at home with so much work to do for college it's unreal! On top of that I have been ill for over a month now! :( nothing seems to be helping me :/
Anyway, I wanted to keep you guys updated with my mini MAC haul and what I got last time I went in to the Nottingham store.
I re-purchased a foundation in the first time in my life, and it just had to be Studio Fix Fluid. This time I got it in shade NW10 because it came out not long ago and it is perfect for my skin colour as NW15 was waaaay too dark. I also bought my mum the Studio Fix Fluid as a treat for her Birthday, she was matched with NW20 which is also perfect for her skin colour.
I also took advantage of Back to MAC and exchanged 12 empties for two gorgeous lipsticks! I've always loved a dark lip so I grabbed Rebel, a gorgeous dark plum shade which is perfect for AW.
My mum chose the shade Flamingo for me as I was stuck with my second choice. It is a lovely coral lipstick and looks great with light smokey eyes.
Ever since I discovered MAC, my motto became 'Once you go MAC, you never go back!'. What MAC products do you guys have and love the most? Any ideas for my next shopping trip?
Lots of love,
Maya xo
